Story
I stood in the hall, pondering my options. I could test my luck against the Qatirah again, but that didn't seem wise. With a depleted soul battery, no food, and no equipment, I needed protection and a way to stave off my depleting stamina. I decided to explore the ruins, walking cautiously deeper into the hall, past the entrance to the Hyrlin's Gallery.
It was surreal, knowing exactly where I was despite the darkness. A perk of my subrace, I thought. As I walked, I opened my Soul log, contemplating its description and the newest soul - Flint Engineer. Why had they been down here alone? The thought made me uneasy. The FlintGarde were known for enlisting outside aid for expeditions to the Master levels.
Suddenly, I heard a soft cooing sound ahead and saw a dim light in the distance. Slowing my stride, I cursed myself for not keeping an eye out for cover. As I continued, I overheard a conversation.
"You sent Etoph to the Master levels on a whim?!" a gruff voice snapped.
"No, not a whim. A task. Not everything I do is for you to know," replied a voice that sounded eerily familiar. Where had I heard that voice before?
As I rounded the bend, my heart raced. The memory of Ayetha speaking to a hooded figure flashed in my mind. Was this the same person? I had to be sure.
"Hello, friend. Have you run afoul of the dungeon as well?" the familiar voice asked, now standing before me with a smile.
I immediately raised my hands in surrender. "Aye, I find myself in a bit of a bind and without a party," I said, trying to reveal as little as possible. The man's voice nagged at me, but I couldn't place it.
As we spoke, I couldn't help but feel apprehensive. If he was Ayetha's contact, I needed to get closer to him without arousing suspicion. I needed to play this carefully. The weight of my unease settled in my chest as we continued talking, each member of the party eyeing me cautiously, but with a hint of welcome.
The man, who introduced himself as Fievhos, seemed to consider my request for an escort to the surface. He turned to his companions, Aq and Xhum, and said, "We could use the extra help." The two, an Avidor with a large gourd on its back and a Sileth with a horn on its hip, stepped forward.
"I trust these two with everything I am," Fievhos declared. "I'd be happy to have you, but these two have the final say in this."
"What do you do, goat eye?" Aq asked, his voice raspy and his fur patchy. His hand rested on his horn as if ready to draw a sword.
Before I could respond, the Avidor, Xhum, interjected, "Forgive him, he forgets himself."
Aq shot back, "Forgot nothings! Best to know what the goat eye knows before making a choice, no?" The two bickered like old friends before Xhum turned back to me.
"If Fievhos wants you, I trust his judgment. But the weasel has a point; you have to be able to handle yourself down here. The last expedition was weeks ago, so if anything, you know how to survive."
I nodded, attempting to keep my composure. This could be my chance to get closer to Fievhos and, ultimately, Ayetha.
"Two to one, it is then," Aq conceded with a snort.
Fievhos smiled and clapped his hands together. As I joined their party, my mind raced with both worry and curiosity. What was Fievhos's connection to Ayetha? And how could I use this opportunity to learn more about the person who had killed me in the Tsafar?
Tension hung in the air as we ventured deeper into the dungeon. I had to be careful not to arouse suspicion among my newfound allies. I needed them to survive this treacherous place, and trust was a fragile thing in such a hostile environment. Every step felt heavy with uncertainty, but I was determined to uncover the truth.

That is where we will end it this week. Next week I try to figure out more about Fievhos, Aq, and Xhum. Might take some time to build them out further. Also we will continue our exploration with this party in tow.
