Well hello hello hello do you know what day it is?
World Wednesday
It's Worldbuilder Wednesdays. What is WbW? Glad you asked, this segment will be sporadic as my interest in lore shifts in game. You can think of it as me nerding out over the most unnecessary details. I rather enjoy the process of world building and can spend days doing it. But I figured instead of nerding out alone why not let you in on the process. Utilizing what little context I have from my home games, mythic, Sorry did you say street Magic, Exnovo, and The Quiet Year, and general inspiration from a compatriot.
How
You can catch the thread all day today on substack. As we brainstorm some ideas.
What will we do?
We are going to be using Mythic and generating some backstory events for the Iiappa this go around. We will do this by rolling up random events and interpreting those. This should be an interesting segment. Your input will shape different histories of not just our current game but the world at large.
I have a rule where it's best to leave things open until we play through it. In this way we are sort of playing through some backstory lore of the Iiappa. You can drop your interpretation of what's rolled into the thread. Next week when we start the next set of rolls we will do a recap. More or less a living document of random worldbuilding tidbits as we come across them. Sometimes this will be a ton of information sometimes it will not be. It could be rumors or myths. It could be a lie. The fun about using Mythic as our background generation system is the flexibility it allows us.
Iiappa
The living trees are indistinguishable from many other trees save for their sap. This is something that is known in our home game. And parentage is a bit odd in that living trees must bond with a sentient being in order to spread their seed. There is alot I have for ideas.
But first let's see how many backstory events there are for the Iiappa.
d100 -> [95] -> seven!
We will be breaking this up into four parts. Where we will roll up two for each part! Excited to see you later today to chop up interpretations for what we roll.
As always thanks for your support. Love what you are reading don't hesitate to share!
