This week
We meet the second half of our Duo, Behest.
Session 0
We are going to jump straight into it. Since we already built out one character I won't spend much time discussing the nitty gritty of character creation of you want a refresher go check out Einn’s Prelude. So on to our fiat question.
Is our second character Snarl-touched? Let's roll that d4!
🎲4
🎲4-Snarl-touched: One Attuned to the Snarl.
🎲3-Keen: Dormant Snarl affinity.
🎲2-Unkeen: Regular humanoid.
🎲1-Rabid: One over come by Snarl.
Just in case you forgot the table I made sure to copy it over for ya. 😉
d🎲3- Keen
I think my dice like me this time around!
Now let's roll up a Name, Background, personality, appearance and description for our character. This is mainly cosmetic detail for roleplay, but can tell us much.
Name: Behest
Bg: Coachmen [Travel,Service]
Persona: Bad Superstitious
Appearance & Description: Muscular Strange Competitive Impulsive
This is a rather interesting set of rolls. Made me think of a rather burly type. I do know I want the character to be female. A fantasy Trucker came to mind for some reason so I am going to roll with that as an Idea. She is a nomadic Chauffeur taking people from place to place.
I don't believe I've played a Superstitious character before so this is going to be fun. As superstition offers useful ways to describe culture and customs. Even more so in a world filled with magic!
Now let's see what her skills, Traits and Flaws are. We already have some rather interesting context for this character.
Skills
•🎲[Simple,Criminal]+3:Oh this is 👍🏿 She's a Smuggler!
•🎲[Move,Danger]+2:This makes me think she lighter on her feet than she looks.
Traits & Flaws
•🎲[Weak, Intense]-3:An intense weakness to something. I am going to say this has to deal with her Superstitious nature. She has a daily ritual she does religiously.
•🎲[Attract,Rare]+2:I'm not sure why but for some reason this makes me think she is rather lucky. Which helps in the finding, fencing and smuggling of things.
Behest, is becoming a bit of a beast in my eyes. She is Keen and as such has a dormant connection to the Snarl. So we will roll up one Spell Effect. This will act more like an uncanny ability or abnormality of hers.
•🎲[Bizarre,Bestow]+2 I am going to lean into her luck here. This is going to be her Gamblers Heart. Offering allies a bit of her preternatural luck.
I might like Behest a lil too much already.😂 Let's get her Pwr.

Not quite as much of a monster as Einn but still some awesome utility and great story fodder that Behest brings to Wyze! Let's meet our Superstitious Smuggler!
Going to do something a bit different as I already have a really solid idea about Behest as a character. Also I'm kind of doing things in reverse. Session 1 has already been played through. So I'm headed back to play this prelude with some preloaded context :). One of the beauties of Solo play.

Someone looking for her at the Dice Hall being denied entry that she vouches for? ? 🎲[7,2]+4 Yes
Fortune’s Mirage Den, a haven of vice and thrill in Baaskqir, pulsated with a feverish energy. Dim, amber lights flickered casting a seductive otherworldly glow over the clamoring patrons. The air was heavy with the scent of exotic spices, mingled with the heat and musk of the sands.
Amidst this cacophony laughter and curses rose and fell like the tide. At the heart of the din, Behest, dominating a Zandlekeer table. Her sharp eyes darted across the board, scanning her hand of dice. The surrounding gamblers, a mélange of the desperate and the daring, watched her with a mix of wonder and envy. They watched agonizing over her deliberation, a rhythmic drumbeat dictating the pulse of the Den.
Into this heady atmosphere scurried a rare two-headed Sirocco Skink, its golden crest a sign of fortune. The creature moved through the scattered dice and coins. Its twin heads were in perfect harmony. It stopped to take a sip from her cup before scurrying away. Behest, a superstitious one, regarded the skink with a reverent smirk, sensing the tide of luck turning in her favor.
The crescendo of the minstrel’s ballad, ‘Wayward Stranger’, filled the air. As the final chord resonated through the Den, Behest cast her dice with a flourish. Time seemed to slow as the die tumbled across the Table, coming up with a full run of foxes to the sound of cheers and groans in equal measure. She leaned back, a wide grin on her face, this was more than mere chance – it was fate’s intricate design.
Amidst the revelry, a sudden commotion at the entrance sliced through the ambiance. The imposing guards engaged in a fierce standoff with Kaelan, a beleaguered dignitary, with torn clothing and a face etched with fear. His voice, tinged with desperation, broke against their unmoving wall of indifference. Behest rose and strode towards the confrontation. Her reputation parting the crowd like a knife through silk. Upon noticing her, the guards tensed. Their reluctance was palpable, but they yielded to her unspoken threat. “He’s with me,” she declared firmly, her voice carrying the subtle threat of her connections.
The guards exchanged a wary glance, then nodded, stepping aside. Kaelan rushed in, his relief palpable. “Thank you,” he gasped, his voice tinged with urgency.
In a quieter dim corner of the Den, Behest’s eyes narrowed as Kaelan explained his plight. His words, laden with urgency, spoke of his young brother, stricken by a mysterious malaise, and the only hope for his salvation – The Whispering Amulet.
His recent encounter with the nefarious Dune Shades, “They said the amulet was theirs,” he whispered, the terror of the encounter still fresh. “Told me to forget it... or else.”
Behest, her mind weaving together the evening’s omens – the Sirocco skink, the minstrel’s song, her win at Zandlekeer- Fate was prodding her to act.
“A fickle mistress Fate, but today the sands grant you favor. I will find this Whispering Amulet of yours.” she finally said after studying Kaelan for some time.
Her decision to help him wasn't made lightly. Behest understood the dangers that lurked within and beyond the walls of Baaskqir, especially when it involved something like The Whispering Amulet. Yet, the same superstitious beliefs that guided her through the perilous paths of smuggling and gambling now nudged her towards a new, uncertain journey.
The Den around her continued its relentless hum of activity, oblivious to the pact being forged in its shadowy recesses. But for Behest, the world had narrowed down to the mission at hand. It was a gamble of the highest stakes, and she was all in. .his was more than a game; it was a quest guided by the fickle hands of fate. And in the grand scheme of things, she was ready to roll the dice!
